Waking up

morning breaks,

with a polite growling

of a hungry dog, begging

the humming of the city

amplified into full orchestra

with the cracking drum beats

of the day’s errand

dragged into depths

of another dimension

the solemn footsteps

of the rain on the rooftop

I pulled the blanket closer

glued my eyelids

into the hush of the sea

the present, slink in my ear

unfolds into dripping blades of sun

refusing to be ignored

I rise like a cramped muscle

in the middle of the night

the dog nibbles, the leg

of my bedside table
